Situated by the Swan River on Mounts Bay Road, at the base of Mt Eliza, is The Old Brewery – a stately establishment dating back to 1838. Today it showcases the best Perth has to offer in produce, service and panoramic views of the Swan River. The Old Brewery won Best Wedding Caterer in 2009 and Best Steakhouse two years running (2009/10) at the Restaurant & Catering Industry of WA Awards for Excellence. Named after the original Swan Brewery’s first brewmaster, the grand Thomas Hardwick Function Room can hold more than 250 people in a cocktail-style function, or up to 150 for a sit-down event. Floor-to-ceiling, glass doors open onto an exclusive terrace area, mere metres from the Swan River. By night, the water reflects the sparkling city lights, dazzling guests and adding ambience to any event. The function room can be configured in several different ways, so it is ideal for any event. The foyer running along the windows can be sectioned off to create the Swan Foyer or Private River Room - an ideal venue for seated functions of 20 to 60 guests. Intimate wedding ceremonies are also a possibility on the riverside lawn area. With a seating capacity for 20 people (100 standing), plus a small signing table for two and tailor-made, cream-coloured carpet for the lawn, weddings held here are poignant and memorable. When the function area is not available, casual cocktail functions and lunches and dinners are welcome in two semi-private areas of restaurant. The Wine-Rack End of the restaurant is ideal for smaller groups of up to 50 in a cocktail-style function or 22 for a sit-down event, while the East-End Restaurant Area lends itself to more relaxed functions of up to 80 cocktail-style and 60 sit-down. Table 69 is an elegant, semi-private round table for 10 seated guests. Function menus can be tailored to suit different requirements, and degustation menus designed by chef Greg Farnan are available for groups of up to 24 people. The steakhouse-style menu features more than 20 different types of meat, including the legendary Wagyu ‘Tomahawk Steak’ (1.4-2.7kg, which Greg pioneered Australia-wide at the Brewery) that is hand-carved at your table. Greg has travelled Australia and the globe to source the finest cuts, ‘from paddock to plate.’ He even runs ‘Beef & Beers’ Cooking Classes, with brewer Mark Reilly, to educate the public and corporate groups. |
